About Leilani
Figure skater, coach, future engineer and advocate.
As a United States Figure Skating (USFS) double gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Solo Free Dance, I am currently working towards passing my Senior freestyle test. I am also studying to be an electrical engineer at the University of Maryland, College Park.
I started skating when I was 5 years old after attending my cousin’s birthday party. I still remember that day because I cried the whole time due to the fact that I could not even stand on the rubber flooring, but since that day, I’ve continued to grow as a figure skater, coach, and most importantly into the person I am today. Figure skating has taught me so many life lessons that I carry with me whether it be at the rink, in my home, or at school. As a coach and choreographer, one of my goals is to not only strengthen my skaters’ technical skills, but to also share some of these lessons, such as perseverance, discipline and expression, with the skating community. I hope to help create inclusive spaces for skaters from all backgrounds so everyone can enjoy what the ice has to offer.
Every year since 2017, I use part of my earnings from coaching to help raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.
